Halloween is over, bringing us closer to the holy grail of holidays, Christmas! Holiday photo cards, family get-togethers and holiday parties mean your choppers need to be in tip top shape when you say cheese! Coffee, tea and red wine are just a few of the culprits that can turn teeth yellow and luster-less. But never fear, you can restore teeth back to their pearly whiteness in the comfort of your home.
I recently collaborated with a U.S. based company called Smile Brilliant to get my teeth in shape. Smile Brilliant provides a custom tooth whitening product you can get without setting foot in a dentist office. You simply order a kit, you make your own impressions at home, send them out and wait for your custom trays to arrive. I have sensitive teeth so I have been apprehensive about using something stronger than a drugstore whitestrip, and of course Zoom is completely out of the question (and pricey). I decided to give Smile Brilliant a try because they offer a special post whitening sensitivity treatment. Smile Brilliant sends you the molding kit and the gel syringes in the first shipment. First, you create your molds.
The process was pretty simple and they give you some extra molding in case you mess up. It took less than a week for my molds to appear and the lab kept me updated on the status.
The first couple of treatments I only went 45 minutes and when I was comfortable with the level of post treatment sensitivity, I bumped it up to 1 hour. It took about 10 treatments (2 syringes) to get the results I wanted. I saw a better result with the custom fitted trays versus the strips. The trays adhere the gel to your teeth better and offer a better fit. The sensitivity gel was amazing! I have had super sensitive teeth all my life and at one point had to use straws and skip ice. So if it works for me it will work for you. I also liked the fact the whitening looks natural – not overdone and splotchy.
A couple of things to consider:
- You will have to keep treating your teeth if you drink coffee, red wine or other vices. You can buy refill syringes without buying an entire kit.
- No whitening treatment will work on crowns or other dental work, so keep that in mind if you have any in the front.
And now, the fun stuff! Smile Brilliant is giving one of my readers a free kit (worth $119.95), all you have to do is sign up for the giveaway here (no rafflecopters and hoops to jump through, just and name and email): www.smilebrilliant.com/g/blog66766 .
