Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to buy things like candy, flowers and cards. But it is also a good time to treat yourself to pink themed beauty or drop hints for non-perishable gift ideas to your sweetheart! Here are eight products on the top of my list.
Sleep soundly while your skin gets repairs via this eye mask made with copper threading. Copper promotes skin renewal, reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Lasts 100 washes, $25 at nordstrom.com.
Kevyn Aucoin The Neo Limelight
This new highlighter from Kevyn Aucoin is almost too pretty to use…almost. The ombre highlighter is highly pigmented, gives skin a strobed glow and lasts all day, $58.
Oasis lip Gel in Blush Crush
This cool lip product from H20 Plus is part lipstick, part lip gel and its transparent. It applies like a dream and has a nice minty flavor. It comes in six different shades (including a completely clear version) and costs just $12. Get it online at ULTA and H20Plus.com but hurry – it sells out frequently.
Hard Candy Blooming Lip Oil
Lip oils are great for keeping lips moist in the dry winter air, but they can be a little pricey. Hard Candy Cosmetics has a new lip oil made with ten essential oils and a ph adjusting formula that creates a shade unique to your lips. It lasts for 8 hours and will only set you back $6, get it at Walmart.
Valentine Shampoo Bar Giftset
If you’ve never used a shampoo bar, now is the time! Bath and body purveyor Basin White is offering a choice of your favorite shampoo and conditioner bar in a cute heart tin for just $17.99. Each bar lasts about 50-75 washes and they are great for travel.
Philosophy Amazing Grace Dry Shampoo
Two of my favorite things are dry shampoo and Philosophy’s Amazing Grace. This limited edition dry shampoo cleanses and texturizes with the lovely scent of Amazing Grace, $24 at Nordstrom.com. Also available in Pure Grace.
Lash Couture Mink Lashes by KISS
These super thick lashes by KISS have the look of mink but are 100 percent cruelty free. Easy to apply and reusable, you can skip the serums and extensions for lashes that are more than “battable”. Get them at Rite Aid, Walgreens and Walmart stores, $5.99 per pair and $5.99 for adhesive.
Voluspa Vermeil Prosecco Rose Candle
Technically candles aren’t beauty but they sell them in the beauty section so I’m going with it. It’s pretty, pink and smells of Rosé, cassis and white rose petals. Made with coconut wax, essential oils and cotton wick, $18 to $30.
You’re throwing back some of the last morsels from New Year’s Eve, the diet and gym commercials are in full swing and you’re already mentally cataloging your diet for the next month. One of the best ways to help your body off the rails is by taking a supplement. My favorite of all time is SeroVital, a combination of amino acids that helps you shed fat, increase muscle and reduce wrinkles (Yay!). It doesn’t have Hgh in it, but the amino acid blend helps boost your own natural hgh levels. The only negative is the price – $99 for a 30 day supply. Costco members can get a 40 day supply for $99 and you occasionally catch it on sale at ULTA. Kohl’s also carries it- coupons don’t work but you can earn Kohl’s cash.
But I have a workaround – a similar product called Ageless Foundation UltraMax Gold Powder (I may get a commission from this link). You dissolve it in a glass of water and take it before bed, five days on, two days off. It costs a lot less than SeroVital, around $50 a month. My review is right here. Right now the best price on a 30 day supply of Ageless Foundation Powder is at AllStarHealth.com (affiliate link), $35.99 plus $5.95 for shipping. Go for the basic shipping – I usually get in within a couple days whether I’m in Las Vegas or Maryland.
If you still need a last minute gift, this Ring Light for selfies (I may get a commission off this link) is perfect for almost anyone on your list. I bought one a few months ago and love it! It has four light levels, a USB charging cord and clips onto practically any smartphone, tablet or laptop. It’s great for teens, students and adults of all ages.
The secret to taking pictures is light, light, and more light. Outside, you usually have enough but indoor lighting can be tricky. This little light will make your face look brighter, sharper and highlight those pearly whites! It also keeps you from looking like an ogre during Skype and Facetime calls. With many companies switching their phone systems out for video conferencing systems, selfie lights will become the must have office accessory. Fits in your handbag and can be used as a flashlight in pinch. Best of all, it will only set you back $15 and ships in two days with Prime.
Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Beautiful Day Cream: Has a rosy scent and my two favorite ingredients, hyaluronic acid and rosehip oil. Great as a daytime or nighttime cream. ($5 value)
HASK Keratin Protein Soothing Deep Conditioner: Single use hair mask helps repair damaged hair, $1.99.
Laneige Water Bank Soothing Mask: Sheet mask version of the brands’ overnight water mask. Non-slip mask comes in two pieces for easier application. ($5 value)
W3LL People Bio Brightener Stick: Natural screen brightener. Very stiff and hard to apply. It probably works better in the summer/warmer temperatures. (???)
L’Oréal Voluminous Primer: Works as a blowout for lashes. Maybe I could use it instead of mascara? ($5.99 value)
Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner: A better than average drugstore liner. I got black/brown, perfect for neutral color palettes. Also has a built-in sharpener and smudger. ($5.99)
You also get a $3 of $15 coupon for beauty at Target.
These beauty boxes (I may get a commission from this link)usually sell out quick but Target has changed the rules to only allow one per household. Unlike traditional beauty boxes, they aren’t on auto order. If you want one, you have to start checking the page around the end of each month to see if its available.
Remember the ads for those magic baby feet products? They promise to remove layers of skin on your feet making them as smooth as the day you were born. I saw this version by Korean beauty company Tony Moly and decided to give it a try. You have to give the treatment a hour and a half to work, so get comfortable. I sat down in front of the TV and watched Poldark.
I removed my nail polish (this would probably take it off/mess it up). The product smells good and didn’t irritate my feet. It was easy for me to wash off and it didn’t dry out my feet. Now the waiting begins….
The package said it would take four days before the skin started peeling off, but it took my skin seven days. I did not take a picture of the carnage because it was GROSS, like get a vacuum gross. Skin was coming off every part of my foot, mostly from the bottom. I helped it along by scrubbing my feet with a pumice stone (even though it said not to) in the bathtub to mitigate the peeling. I definitely would not do this treatment mid summer because you will have skin coming off for about a week. The end result was amazing! My feet look 10 years younger and all the ugly calluses were gone. I definitely will use this again! Get your own treatment at ULTA or Amazon for around $6.50.
