Cushion foundations are the latest and greatest in the world of foundations. It is essentially a porous sponge saturated with foundation that is applied with another sponge that is pressed into the foundation. It works very similar to using a beauty blender but with less fuss and less waste of product. I got a sample of the Laneige BB Cushion in a Target beauty box liked it enough to buy a big one.
Laneige is owned by the same parent company as Amore Pacific (the originator of the BB Cushion) but this is a better product and has more color variations. The color is buildable, has an SPF of 50, brightens skin and has a cooling effect. It soothed my sensitive rosacea skin and was amenable to blush, bronzer and finishing powder. It is the perfect product for when you don’t really want to deal with foundation but you want some coverage.
Right now you can only get it exclusively at Target(affiliate link) for $34. That may sound like a lot for a drugstore cosmetic but it is important to note you get a refill compact and sponge, making the cost about $17 per compact. The L’Oreal cushion compact is priced anywhere from $14 to $18, making Laneige a pretty good deal for a premium cosmetic. They also have a cushion concealer available.
Target launched their quarterly beauty boxes about a week ago and sadly, they are already sold out. I was able to grab one for only $7 (includes shipping) so I’m going to tell you if it was good or not.
They had two choices, Refresh or Renew. I got renewal because I really wanted to try the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer. The other box was more heavy on skincare. My box had:
Caress Love Forever Body Wash – smells good but has those pearls in it.
ATTITUDE 2-in-1 Shampoo – shampoo and body that is sustainable and carcinogen free.
Laneige BB Cushion
Cushion foundations are the big thing right now, this one is sister to the original cushion foundation lauded by makeup artists, AmorePacific. The Laneige BB Cushion is pretty good but still will run you $34.
Scunci No-Slip Grip Braided Headwrap
Made of cotton instead of elastic or other synthetics – came with $1 off coupon.
Degree Women Fresh Energy Dry Spray
Full size – smells pretty good, a little powdery.
Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer
Love this stuff! Smells like Moringa from The Body Shop and works better than body lotion.
ATTITUDE Volume & Shine Shampoo
From same company above, free of cancer causing ingredients and mutagens.
Revlon Ultimate All-In-One Mascara
This high-impact formula delivers 5 benefits in 1 product: volume, length, definition, lift and rich, intense color.
Hada Labo Tokyo Anti-Aging Facial Mask
Paper masks are the bomb. This one is by Japanese brand Hada Labo (their skin plumping cream is a bestseller) and is soaked with favorite skin lifting ingredient, hyaluronic acid!
New year means a new you. After you hit the makeup aisle and pick up the latest and greatest in beauty, make sure you step a couple of aisles down to the vitamins and supplements. Products targeting skin issues, nails, hair and youth regeneration have been moving from the vitamin stores to beauty retailers like Sephora, ULTA and Nordstrom. In addition to making you feel good, many of these products

HGH is a big buzzword when it comes to strength and vitality. But what can it do for your skin? This powder based supplement by Ageless Foundation works to help your body boost its own HGH levels making your body operate more like it did when you were younger. One of the benefits includes tighter, younger skin. This and a similar, pricier product called SeroVital HGH have a list of loyal followers (including me).
NeoCell Beauty Bursts
Beauty Bursts are a soft, daily chewable that help your skin, hair and nails. Collagen Type 1 & Type 3 strengthens, Vitamin C boosts collagen in the skin and beefy hyaluronic acid helps hydrate and plump the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a very popular skin treatment additive and is the main ingredient in injectables like Restylane. I noticed a difference is my skin after only a few days of use. My skin was tighter, smoother and the ridges on my nails began to smooth out. You can find this and other NeoCell products at vitamin and retail stores. Kalologie is a spa company with locations in some of the most exclusive cities in the world like Scottsdale, Las Vegas and two Real Housewives hotspots, Beverly Hills and Ladera Ranch. Even if you don’t live near these places, you can still experience the brand’s amazing line of skincare.
The people at Kalologie sent me the Replenish Night Repair Cream to take for a spin and I loved it! Made with rose hip seed oil ( an easily absorbing oil that helps skin regenerate), algae and beta glucans, it absorbs fast and is very soothing to the skin. It stays with you and by morning you can still feel the moisture and skin is tighter and firmer. It really helped reduce the fine lines and sped the healing on blemishes. I have rosacea and it did not irritate my skin and actually helped reduce the redness and inflammation.
It is a little pricey at $135, but a lot less than department store and high end spa brands. My favorite lower end brand is Olay Regenerist and my favorite high end brand is Omorovicza. This product rated in the middle in that if I have extra money I would get Kalologie over Olay and skip the Omorovicza. If you want a product that delivers full face improvement, this one is pretty good.
