July is my birthday month. There is no better way to celebrate your birthday than with some great freebies and discounts from your favorite beauty retailers! Here are the ones I scored for 2015:
Sephora – Beauty Insiders get a pair of NARS Lip Pencils in Cruella and Rikugien. The deluxe samples aren’t that much smaller than the full size. VIP Beauty Insiders also get a NARS eyeliner. All you have to do is sign up before your birthday month. No purchase required.
Victoria’s Secret: Sign up for emails and get a special coupon for your birthday that entitles you to $10 off a $30 purchase. Get something in the beauty department or load up on cotton panties.
ULTA – ULTA changes the birthday gift every few months or so. This summer I got a deluxe sample of Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara. You have to be an ULTAmate rewards member and you’ll get an email around your birthday that is good for 30 days. Another perk you’ll receive is 2 X points during your birthday month. I got a haircut, bought some hair products and makeup staples and ended up with $8 in rewards – and these are good on all brands and products.
The Body Shop – Members of the Love Your Body program get $10 on their birthday. A membership costs $10 per year, but you also get 10 percent off everyday purchases plus you accumulate points toward reward certificates.
Godiva – This isn’t a beauty product but it is chocolate! Join the rewards program to get a free piece of chocolate each month, rewards for purchases and other exclusive offers. For my birthday I got a $10 ceritficate that I used toward the Birthday Truffle Flight $16-$10= $6.
Here is the March 2015 Allure Sample Society Box. This box is curated by Allure beauty editors and is one of the best (if not the best) beauty sample box out there. This is my second box and it did not disappoint. For $15 I got:
Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer
NEW Benefit Roller Lash Mascara
Oscar Blandi Pronto Texture & Volume Spray
MALIN + GOETZ Mojito Lip Balm
Cargo Essentials Lip Gloss
The Juice beauty moisturizer is a deluxe sample, it absorbs quickly and has a light, pleasant smell. The BENEFIT Roller Lash Mascara is a more of a deluxe sample. Just released in Feb. 2015, it has this hook design that catches and lifts your lashes for a curl effect and full coverage. I wasn’t a fan of the Oscar Blandi dry shampoo, but this texture spray has redeemed the brand in my eyes. It builds texture without being “crunchy” and also works as a dry shampoo. The MALIN +GOETZ Mojito Lip Balm isn’t too sticky – but it make you want to drink one! Finally, the Cargo lip gloss is a great, shear pink shimmer and smells really good – like apples.
You can buy Allure Sample Society Beauty Bar boxes one at time for $15 each (shipping included) or subscribe. Use code 5FORYOU to get $5 off your first box. You can also build a beauty profile to get samples that are more customized to you.
I was curious about the waxing services by Benefit at ULTA so I went in to check out the Brow Bar. The bar is actually separate from the ULTA Salon, performed by the standards of Benefit Cosmetics. A brow wax is $20 and a brow tweeze is $22. They also take care of other facial waxing as well as faux eyelash applications. If you buy their lashes ($15), application is $5, otherwise you’ll pay $10.
