Keeping blonde hair brass and yellow free is a tireless effort. The easiest way to keep it in shape is by using a toning shampoo or conditioner. There are tons of products on the market these days, but a lot of people complain that toning shampoos can dry out hair and are expensive to boot.
A new product from OGX allows you to tone your hair using your own shampoo and conditioner! OGX Blonde Enhance + Purple Toning Drops (I may get a commission from this link) are concentrated purple drops that you mix into the product to create a custom toning product for hair.
Just dispense your shampoo or conditioner into your hand, add 3 to 5 drops and mix! Use it just with shampoo, just conditioner or both! You can easily customize the level of toning.
I found that the less of the drops you use, the more “blue” your mix will be. That works great for me because I prefer a blue shampoo to purple. If you don’t know what your color is, read my article on finding your undertones. I found this at ULTA Beauty, but you can probably find it wherever OGX products are sold. Priced between $7 and $10, it’s an amazing product!
There is nothing worse than realizing your hair needs a touch-up right before a (insert big event here). L’Oréal Paris has just come out with a new spray-on treatment that will hide those roots until you can get to your hairdresser. L’Oréal Paris Root Cover Up comes in six shades and is formulated to conceal grays and roots in between shampoos. I just did my haircolor so I experimented with it on one of my dark blonde hair extensions.
If you look towards the middle of the very top of the seam, you can see where I applied the root touch up. It creates a subtle effect (instead of looking like you sprayed yellow paint on your hair) that would be more pronounced on light gray or white hair. The product consistency is very similar to dry shampoo and the color stays adhered to the hair. However, just like dry shampoo, is can get a little stiff – which also makes it a good root lifter. Overall, it is great option for concealing roots and is a lot cheaper than many of the products you’d find at the makeup counter superstores.
L’Oréal Paris Root Cover is priced around $10.99 and is available online and at drug and grocery stores. You can get a $1 off coupon right now if you head over coupons.com. Get an even better deal when you you pair the manufacturers coupon with the store coupon at ULTA – $10.99 – $1 =$9.99 – $3.50= $6.49!
