Summer is here. Hopefully you beauties are wearing your sunscreen and keeping your skin healthy.  But here is a way to sport color without damaging your skin – bronzer..However, not all bronzers are created equal. Bronzers can add color or be used to highlight or discount features of your face. Rain Cosmetics’ National Makeup Artist has some great tips on how to use bronzer to get the look you want.

Rain Cosmetics adds new eyeshadow palettes – Giveaway

Rain Cosmetics has added three new eyeshadow palettes. Each palette has five complimentary matte and glitter shadows and comes with a  double ended applicator.  The shadows are long-wearing, crease resistant and richly pigmented. Each palette also comes with an application guide. My favorite is the “Girl Next Door” palette, a mixture of neutral colors including Cutie Pie Cocoa, Wholesome Honey, Innocent Ivory, Caring Copper, and Sweet Sepia.

These shadows work great, with or without a primer. They can be applied with a q-tip (which I initially used to try them out) and work even better with brushes. They are buildable and versatile. The five colors can be interchanged to create a day or evening look. Girl Next Door is my new everyday eyeshadow palette!

The next one, “Center Of Attention” is a smokey eye palette. The colors are Sexy Slate, Never a Bore Beige, Party Girl Pewter, Cheeky Charcoal, and Rebellious Black.

The makeup that Miss USA pageants are made of

One of my favorite makeup lines, Rain has the official makeup of the Miss USA pageant for two years now. They have spent countless hours getting the contestants ready for pageant activities and all the ladies look spectacular! Makeup artist Melinda Osgood gave us a tutorial for Miss USA 2012 Olivia Culpo’s winning look.

Start with a flawless complexion. her skin was primed with Smooth Criminal Face Primer. Next, Perfect Cream Foundation was blended over her face and under eyes to cover blemishes and to even out the skin tone. Finish with Setting Loose Powder.

For Olivia’s eyes Melinda used the Diva Eye Shadow Quad in Viva Las Vegas, which includes colors Shalimar, Canterbury, La Bella and Allure. Shalimar shadow was applied all over the eyelid, starting from the lash line and blending up to just above the crease of the lid. Next, Canterbury was added to the center of the lids for subtle shine. Using La Bella shadow with a blender brush, Melinda started at the outer corner of the eye and swept color towards the center of the lid. She blended the color softly back and forth in the crease of the eye.

To line the eyes, draw a thin line across the upper lashes with Expressive Eye Liner in Black. Start at the inner corner of the eye and work outwards. Extend the liner slightly past the lash line and upwards for a lifted look. Do the same on the lower lash line.

Melinda added two coats of High Roller Mascara in Black and Drama Lash (false lashes) in style Tease to further enhance the eyes.

Using the Expressive Lip Liner in Cameo, she lined Olivia’s lips and then applied Glam Lipstick in Bottle Service. She finished them off with Gloss of Fame in Wine Newton to add dimension and shine.

Melinda applied Glowing Blush in Striptease to the apples of the cheeks, blending upwards and outwards.

To finish her look, Melinda used Eye Brow Gel in Clear to keep brows in place.

Sneak Peek: Rain introduces new Lip Lacquers

The new “Color Storm” Lip Lacquers come in six bold colors. What exactly is a lip lacquer you ask? Lip lacquer is to lip gloss what nail lacquer is to nail polish. Lacquers are heavier, with more pigment and last longer – all good things for a lip or nail product.

Rain Color Storm Lacquers contain jojoba and vitamin E oils to keep your lips hydrated. They have not been released yet, but I expect them to retail around $20. Get them at Aria or at www.raincosmetics.com on February 10th.
