You can now find that popular Instagram concealer inside ULTA stores! L.A. Girl’s HD Pro Conceal has a brush applicator which makes for a cleaner and easier application. The full line of L.A. Girl is available on the ULTA website but you can find the concealer in a small portable display in store (very small, blink and you’ll miss it). The colors are limited to six complexion shades and four correctors, priced at $4.99 each.
I grabbed the lightest shade I could find, Porcelain. L.A. Girl suggests you choose a shade two or so shades lighter to use as a concealer. The applicator is reminiscent of Stila Lip Glaze, and makes it easier to apply. It blends well with a sponge/blender and has good staying powder as long as you use a setting powder. You have to use a good amount for coverage so I don’t think it will last that long. Buy one in store and if you like it, stock up online. You can also find it at select Rite Aid and CVS Pharmacy (coming soon) stores.
One of the best benefits of joining those store rewards programs are the freebies! This year Sephora has three to choose from, skincare from Caudalie, blush and lipstick from Tarte or grooming essentials for men from Jack Black. This year I decided to go with Tarte. The blush is a nice pretty pink and the lip gloss is more like a liquid lipstick in a nude shade (and it smells minty). All you have to do to get your free birthday gift is sign up for the Beauty Insider club online or in store. You can get your free gift anytime during your birthday month – no purchase required!
ULTA changes their birthday gift every quarter or so. You can usually find it in the ad book sent out in the mail. Some stores are also giving out a freebie from Benefit (they used to do a free eyebrow wax). Getting your gift is harder. You have to be registered for the rewards program and wait to get an email in the mail that can be redeemed for your gift. Summer 2017’s gift is this cool NYX eyeshadow palette ($18 value ) filled with some great fall colors.
Other beauty rewards programs:
CVS Beauty – Separate from your regular CVS card, get $5 when you spend $50 and $3 for your birthday.

July is my birthday month. There is no better way to celebrate your birthday than with some great freebies and discounts from your favorite beauty retailers! Here are the ones I scored for 2015:
Sephora – Beauty Insiders get a pair of NARS Lip Pencils in Cruella and Rikugien. The deluxe samples aren’t that much smaller than the full size. VIP Beauty Insiders also get a NARS eyeliner. All you have to do is sign up before your birthday month. No purchase required.
Victoria’s Secret: Sign up for emails and get a special coupon for your birthday that entitles you to $10 off a $30 purchase. Get something in the beauty department or load up on cotton panties.
ULTA – ULTA changes the birthday gift every few months or so. This summer I got a deluxe sample of Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara. You have to be an ULTAmate rewards member and you’ll get an email around your birthday that is good for 30 days. Another perk you’ll receive is 2 X points during your birthday month. I got a haircut, bought some hair products and makeup staples and ended up with $8 in rewards – and these are good on all brands and products.
The Body Shop – Members of the Love Your Body program get $10 on their birthday. A membership costs $10 per year, but you also get 10 percent off everyday purchases plus you accumulate points toward reward certificates.
Godiva – This isn’t a beauty product but it is chocolate! Join the rewards program to get a free piece of chocolate each month, rewards for purchases and other exclusive offers. For my birthday I got a $10 ceritficate that I used toward the Birthday Truffle Flight $16-$10= $6.

If you around in the late 80’s and early 90’s, you probably remember Freeman. They have a variety of skincare and body products available at drugstores. My personal favorite was a AHA face scrub. Anyway, they a launched a new skincare line made with apple stem cells called Eclos. Through the magic of Klout, I got full size versions of Eclos Moisture Therapy Regenerative Cream, Daily HydraPrimer SPF 30 and Skin Prep Cleanser to try out for free.
First, the Eclos Moisture Therapy Regenerative Cream.
It is very moisturizing, has a pleasant scent and is a good night-time or morning moisturizer. I can’t say if it I noticed a difference in my wrinkles, it claims to improve then within two weeks time. I think it will work if you are younger with less noticeable wrinkles.
The Eclos Skin Prep Cleanser (not pictured) is like your basic skin cleanser. It smells the same as the cream and like most cleansers, you will still need eye makeup remover.
I really liked the Daily Hydra Primer SPF 30. It has a slight tint that helps even out skin tone, SPF and it contains my favorite skincare element, Sodium Hyaluronate. This miracle additive plumps skin and promotes collagen regeneration. Unfortunately, it has silicas and dimethicones which make me break out. If you are not allergic to them, this primer is the perfect all in one to go under your makeup or when you run to the store. It is also the best value in the line at $15.99.
If you want to try out the line, I have seen these little trial packages at Ulta and Drugstores for $19.99.
