January is the biggest month of year for joining gyms, buying athletic gear and trying out new supplements. Mostly it’s because people spent Thanksgiving through New Year’s drinking, eating and not working out. But it can be hard to get back on the horse…so to speak.
A new supplement called SkinnyStix is here to help you get back out there. SkinnyStix is a five calorie powder that you mix with water or another liquid (celebrity endorser Jenny McCarthy mixes it with her morning smoothie). The mix includes yerba mate, guarana, damiana and a xanthine complex that gives you energy, elevates your mood and improves focus and stamina. I got a chance to try it out and here is my review!
You are supposed to mix it with 16 ounces of water – you might want to add even more (nothing wrong with drinking more water) because it is really strong. My sample pack came with a branded water bottle (which comes with some varieties) and is bigger than 16 ounces. I drank it in the afternoon when I needed a boost. It didn’t make me feel wired, but it gave me more energy and curbed my desire to snack. The other major thing I noticed is that I felt really tired around bedtime, This might be good or bad, depending on who you are. I am sensitive to caffeine and sometimes just having a coffee in the afternoon will keep me up at night. This would also be good to drink about 30 minutes before your workout for an extra boost. I would definitely consider buying/ using this again.
You can buy SkinnyStix in a 21 serving version ($29.99) or an eight pack ($14.99), It comes in tangerine, berry and lime and can be purchased online and in stores like Walgreens and Kohls.

The holidays are over and it’s time to get back to work. It’s also time to get your body back in time from holidays. Eating and drinking too much, staying up to late and laying around have probably taken a toll on your body and your complexion. A great way to get your body looking better on the outside is to start on the inside.
Beauty Infusion is a daily supplement powder that helps strengthen your nails, hair and skin, build up collagen levels and provide anti-oxidant protection. Neocell sent me a sample of Beauty Infusion and here is a quick review:
The first thing I noticed is my nails. I usually have to use topical treatments to get rid of the ridges. Within a day or two of using Beauty Infusion, my the ridges started to level and my nails got stronger. I also noticed my hair was thicker and stronger. Based on the results in my nails, I would use this product again. I have used other supplements that claim to help your nails, but they really only make them grow longer, not grow thicker. The only issue I had with it is that you need to drink it on an empty stomach. Which really isn’t a big deal, but I already take another supplement daily (on an empty stomach) and it is hard to add in another.
Beauty Infusion comes in three flavors and retails for about $34.99. You can find it online and at retailers like Vitamin World, Sprouts and Whole Foods. Visit neocell.com for a store locater.
