Target’s November beauty box is out for delivery and you can still pick one up!

Target Beauty Box, Nov. 2016

It costs $10 ($30 value) and includes the following:

  • L’Oréal Advanced HairCare Volume Filler Thickening Shampoo: Makes thin hair thicker, travel size. ($1.49 value)
  • Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Beautiful Day Cream: Has a rosy scent and my two favorite ingredients, hyaluronic acid and rosehip oil. Great as a daytime or nighttime cream. ($5 value)
  • HASK Keratin Protein Soothing Deep Conditioner: Single use hair mask helps repair damaged hair, $1.99.
  • Laneige Water Bank Soothing Mask: Sheet mask version of the brands’ overnight water mask. Non-slip mask comes in two pieces for easier application. ($5 value)
  • W3LL People Bio Brightener Stick: Natural screen brightener.  Very stiff and hard to apply. It probably works better in the summer/warmer temperatures. (???)
  • L’Oréal Voluminous Primer: Works as a blowout for lashes. Maybe I could use it instead of mascara? ($5.99 value)
  • Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner: A better than average drugstore liner. I got black/brown, perfect for neutral color palettes. Also has a built-in sharpener and smudger. ($5.99)
  • You also get a $3 of $15 coupon for beauty at Target.

Cushion compacts: a review of the Laneige BB Cushion

Cushion foundations are the latest and greatest in the world of foundations. It is essentially a porous sponge saturated with foundation that is applied with another sponge that is pressed into the foundation. It works very similar to using a beauty blender but with less fuss and less waste of product. I got a sample of the Laneige BB Cushion in a Target beauty box liked it enough to buy a big one.

Laneige is owned by the same parent company as Amore Pacific (the originator of the BB Cushion) but this is a better product and has more color variations. The color is buildable, has an SPF of 50, brightens skin and has a cooling effect. It soothed my sensitive rosacea skin and was amenable to blush, bronzer and finishing powder. It is the perfect product for when you don’t really want to deal with foundation but you want some coverage.

Right now you can only get it exclusively at Target (affiliate link) for $34. That may sound like a lot for a drugstore cosmetic but it is important to note you get a refill compact and sponge, making the cost about $17 per compact. The L’Oreal cushion compact is priced anywhere from $14 to $18, making Laneige a pretty good deal for a premium cosmetic. They also have a cushion concealer available.
