Spring beauty trend must haves

Spring is almost here so its time to march yourself over to the store for some Spring beauty! This year the trend is the understated, natural look with bold lips. I have already picked up some new products…here are some ideas for you.

Put away the heavy foundations and swap them out for BB Cream or tinted moisturizer. I tried a sample of Maybelline’s Dream Fresh BB Cream 8-in-1 Skin Perfector and was pretty impressed. It gives high end BB Creams a run for their money. It has an SPF 30, but it was a little dry, I would wear a moisturizer under it.

Keep it basic, use a tinted eye primer like Laura Mercier Eye Basics or Urban Decay’s Naked Basics. Heavy eyeliner and mascara are a no-no too. Use a brown eyeliner and use a clear mascara or primer on your eyelashes. Bold brows are in, so lay off the tweezing and fill them out a bit with a brow powder or gel.

Lips is where you get to be bold this Spring. Pick rich corals, pinks and reds – mattes are good, too much glitter bad. I find that many drugstore varieties of lipstick are just as good as department store brands. The only exception is if I want a particular color. I really like the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters and NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils – you can use it as a liner and then fill in the rest of the lip. Make sure you use a lip protectant with SPF underneath your lip color.

To keep continuity for the natural look, choose a light pink or coral blush an d apply it to apples of the cheeks. Skip the BRONZER! You want a light, dewy complexion. I discovered this great pink ethereal blush by NARS called Gaiety. Just looking at it makes you feel good!

Hair this spring is inspired by a day at the beach. At New York Fashion Week,  L’Oréal Professionnel Master Session Artist, Laura Polko created lots of loose buns and beachy waves. You can recreate beachy hair at home by first prepping hair with L’Oréal Professionnel Mousse Volupte. With a curling iron, alternate curling twisted strands of hair to create a touchable wave. Click here for salons.
